As the telecommunications industry moves through its metamorphosis to cable company/Internet Service Provider (ISP), a few more favorable factors contribute to the consumer’s position. First, the cable and ISP market already has several large players and hundreds if not thousands of smaller ones bringing more competition to companies who have not operated in a tight competitive market before. This will drive prices for Internet connectivity down and increase the service level of the general market.
Second, the telecommunications carriers are required to accept all paying customers and offer paid access to their customers to competing companies and their customers. The advantage in this comes to a consumer who decides to end their relationship with the telecommunications industry altogether, but does not want to be inaccessible to those who have not, because it opens a painless exit path. Consumers can now sign onto a modern private stream-routing network which is, as a whole, a customer to traditional telecommunications and continue to be accessible to everyone outside the network. And they can do this while still gaining substantial savings and better service.
